Hi readers! It’s been months since my last post. The reason for that was a lot of soul searching combined with being a busy hockey dad who works 80 hour weeks. Today that all changed.
After 21 years I have left my job. This was a hard decision, I liken it to a divorce. So many wonderful memories & family made behind those doors that now aren’t part of my professional life anymore. 21 years ago I was a fit, single 33 year old, today I am a nowhere near fit, happily married father of two & 54.
For a long time I thought that I would retire with that company. It was home. Anyone who has gone through a breakup can relate I think. Sometimes it’s not one big thing but the culmination of many small things that inevitably brings a relationship to an end.
Today I am optimistic, disappointed it has come to an end & happy with my decision not only for myself, but my family as well. For the first time in 35 years, my entire working career, I will wake up unemployed tomorrow. I have no idea what the future holds for me, but I know I have made the right decision today, for today & I think that’s all we can hope for in life.
On to the next chapter & who knows it may have more blog pieces quite simply because I will have the time. This vintage model still has a lot of miles left on it before it drives off in the sunset though, so there will be more fun signage facts in the future.
